An absolutely stunning climbing vine, Petrea Purple Wreath (Petrea volubilis) has a number of common names; Queens Wreath and Sandpaper Vine being just a few.
This tropical vine is reminiscent of Wisteria in both it’s colour and form and is a very good substitute for those in warmer climates who have their hearts set on a climber with beautifully flowing flowers in shades of purples and mauve.

Petrea grows best in a sunny position and prefers a rich soil; plants grown in shaded positions will not flower profusely, and surprisingly for a tropical vine Petrea will cope with the occasional very mild frosts. Plants will also withstand dry periods but for best results we recommend a well drained fertile soil with adequate moisture during the warmer weather.
